The face of a happy marathoner

My body really really hurt during the marathon. You sure as heck wouldn’t know it from these pictures.

Finish line

I’m still reeling from the entire experience. It proved to be so much more than 26 miles. It was a journey of self-discovery, determination, faith, pride, and sharing. Sometimes you talk to someone that has run a marathon and ask them if they will never run another one. “I wanted to do it once,” they say. “It was on my bucket list.” “No thank you- once was enough.”

I wasn’t sure how I would feel after I finished this one – what my answer would be. Now I know. I will run another one. And probably another after that. I will run them until I can’t anymore, until the distance has nothing more to teach me, until I get my race photos back and they don’t show the face of a girl that, despite pain and adversity, is having the freaking time of her life.

Great pictures Jill! You need to teach me how to smile and look nice in my race photos. I am always frowning or look angry.

Congratulations again!!!

Fabulous post. I truly enjoyed reading both of these Marathon recaps. I can't believe you were smiling in EVERY picture! And, you ran double what I ran and I looked like I was withering in pain in my pictures at the end! LOL!!!!

Good lord, how did you pull off looking happy in all of those pictures?? In my pictures I looked happy in like 2 (at the finish line) and the rest I looked like death and I didn't go through nearly as much pain as you did.

Congrats on your first marathon, it's such an amazing feeling of accomplishment! And I'm impressed you already know you want to do it again--I ran my first in May but it took a few weeks before I decided I'd do it again! I am also a sahm, love finding other running moms. :)

Hi from your newest follower! I'm looking forward to meeting you in July for Ragnar Colorado :)

Awesome race! I never have that many shots of me smiling during a race. And you're right, you would never know you're body hurt.

Great photos and recap.
